1940 Oldsmobile Coupe

This immaculate Oldsmobile is the kind of automobile serious collectors spend lifetimes trying to find... a car that has never needed any restoration other than a paint job.

And what a paint job it got! The present owner had it done when he bought the car about ten years ago, and it is still absolutely perfect.

He also rechromed the two bumpers to bring them up to par with the rest of the car.

The interior is 100% original and shows just the slightest amount of wear.

As you can see in this picture the car has an automatic transmission and the original radio, which works! 1940 was the first year an automatic transmission was available in a production Oldsmobile.

This model has a good sized back seat.

This flat head straight eight has got to be the quietest running engine I ever heard.

It runs perfectly and has never been opened up since it was built 70 years ago.

The door panels are just about perfect. All the windows work and are in good shape.

Here is a closeup of the dash showing the odometer reading just over 47,000 miles since new!

Note the "Upper Beam" indicator.

The car has a good sized trunk, with the spare under a removeable floor piece.

From the back it looks like it is going 60 MPH when it is standing still!

The rear windows slide back a little for ventilation.

The owner added the fog lights which are the correct ones for the car, and he even was able to get the correct switch for them for the dash.
